The research paper, “Faecal Sludge Management in Africa: Socio-economic aspects, human and environmental health implications”, aims to explore how current trends in faecal sludge management are impacting human and environmental health in Africa (both sub-Saharan and Northern Africa). It also highlights some solutions and how improving faecal sludge management is fundamental to tackle the global sanitation crisis and achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030.
This publication is a joint project by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the African Development Bank (AfDB) and GRID- Arendal entitled Wastewater Management and Sanitation Provision in Africa.
