Environmental Emergencies Book – Learning from multilateral response to disasters

This handbook by the UN Environment/OCHA Joint Unit highlights the partnerships and lessons learned after 15 years of multilateral response to international environmental emergencies.

In partnership with UN Environment and the Geneva Environment Network, Environmental Emergencies – Learning from multilateral response to disasters, was launched to mark the fifteenth anniversary of the UN Environment/OCHA Joint Unit. The publication highlights the successful partnerships forged through global response efforts and lessons learned from the past 15 years of responding to international environmental emergencies. The many case studies portray vividly how humanitarian and environmental aspects of emergency response are inextricably linked. Keeping the environment on the agenda in the midst of an emergency is an important job that the world is gradually coming to recognize.
